Project Description

Student Accommodation – Desailly Street is known as the ‘NRL Cowboys Girls House’ in Townsville. STP has been lucky to be involved in this ground breaking project, which has delivered a wonderful environment for indigenous girls from remote communities to come to Townsville for Education and Vocational opportunities. Funded entirely by the State Government, the project was managed by Building and Asset Services in Townsville. STP were engaged along with Architect Roger MacCallum by Hutchinson builders to provide Structural, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Hydraulic services for this project at Pimlico. The facility provides boarding facilities for 50 girls with managers residence, supervisors rooms, administration building, kitchen and recreation building, after school classrooms as well as a multipurpose hall. The design team have focused on cultural sensitivities to ensure the girls thrive in their new environment.
